Unlocking the Power of Bilingualism at King-Chavez Neighborhood of Schools

That’s why, since 2019, King-Chavez Neighborhood of Schools has proudly offered our Dual Language Program. As of the 2025-2026 school year, all TK-5th grade students at Community Academy and all TK-4th grade students at Academy of Excellence spend half their day immersed in Spanish and the other half in English, developing fluency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in both languages. The program will expand to TK-5th grade at Academy of Excellence in the 2026-2027 school year.

Our middle school and high school students continue their language journey with dedicated Spanish classes while building upon the foundation laid by dual language immersion during elementary years. Teachers tailor instruction to each student’s pace, ensuring everyone grasps concepts fully and progresses confidently. We also provide extra support for students whose first language isn’t English, helping them achieve proficiency and earn ELPAC Reclassification.
Our ultimate goal? For every student to graduate with the California State Seal of Biliteracy—an achievement that opens doors to colleges and careers, celebrating their hard-earned bilingual skills.
