SDCOE Recognizes Principal of Primary Academy as a Leader In Biliteracy

This spring, Principal Gerry Guevara of King-Chavez Primary Academy was honored at the 23nd Annual Leadership in Biliteracy Symposium! Hosted by the San Diego County Office of Education, the Leadership in Biliteracy Symposium provides an opportunity to spotlight educational leaders who are making a difference for students through demonstrated excellence in promoting biliteracy.

At the event, Principal Guevara was recognized for his continuous commitment to biliteracy since Primary Academy transitioned to a dual language approach in 2019. The program consists of 50 percent of the day taught completely in Spanish and the other half taught in English to promote proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in both languages. All students at Primary (TK-3) participate in the program to ensure all students are on the pathway to biliteracy.

We are incredibly proud of Principal Guevara’s commitment to our students’ success and honored to call him a Leader in Biliteracy!
