Arts

Currently, the School offers Art 1-2 and Drawing courses. Art 1-2 was introduced to 9th grade students during the 2017-2018 school year serving the purpose as an introduction to the fundamental concepts and techniques of art. Students in this course are introduced to a variety of artistic mediums such as collage, drawing, painting, and sculpting. The Drawing course was designed to cover specific drawing aesthetic principles and practices. Our Art department hosts an annual Art Night where student work from the classroom is displayed, and encourages student performers to share their talents with the community.

Arts

All King-Chavez students receive quality instruction in the arts on a weekly basis as part of our general educational program. Students engage in hands-on activities and create works of art using a variety of media including sketch, watercolor, pastels, and clay. Art lessons are enhanced with the integration of technology, art history, and artist studies. These beautiful student-created art pieces are displayed at various school events throughout the year. To further develop skills, additional classes are offered to students during our after school programming.

Arts

KCAE is proud to offer a rich artistic experience to our students in kindergarten through eighth grade. In addition to the variety of ways in which our teachers integrate different mediums of art into their regular classroom instruction, we are very fortunate to have staff dedicated exclusively to supporting the arts at our school. A couple of times each week throughout the year, students are given the opportunity to work with our Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) teacher. She provides instruction and guidance around different artistic concepts employing an age-appropriate approach and gives students the opportunity to apply their understanding to projects.

In addition, we have been able to maintain a partnership with outside organizations that provide our students with enriching artistic opportunities. This past year, our middle school students worked with staff from the Villa Musica program to learn about music production culminating in the creation of their own song. Currently, we are also offering dance classes to certain grades throughout the school year. For this, we have a staff member dedicated to supporting students through the process of learning the basics of dance techniques and eventually incorporating them into a dance performance.

In an effort to celebrate the excellent work that our students and staff are doing in this area, over the course of the school year, we organize Art Exhibition events for our school community, which allows families to revel in the masterpieces that their students have created.
